Abstract
La narrativa della scrittrice centese Maria Majocchi Plattis (Jolanda), a torto segnata dal marchio di "letteratura rosa", dà prova del suo fermo impegno civile. Jolanda esamina l'universo femminile da un punto di vista decisamente intellettuale e privilegiato e nell'originale galateo Eva regina si sofferma in dettaglio sul rapporto fra la donna moderna e il mondo delle professioni. Il presente studio si concentra su uno dei romanzi meno conosciuti di Jolanda, Dopo il sogno (1906), e sulla rinascita della giovane protagonista Camilla, in seguito a una delusione amorosa. Saranno i consigli della sua illustre vicina di casa, la scrittrice Viola d'Alba, palese alter-ego di Jolanda, a spingere Camilla a dare un significato diverso alla sua vita, a intraprendere una carriera professionale nella fabbrica paterna, e a dare inizio a una serie di miglioramenti delle condizioni di lavoro delle giovani (e bambine) impiegate in fabbrica.
