Cet article se penche sur le caractre des archives personnelles.L'auteure constate que les rcents dbats concernant l'valuation et l'acquisition des documents ont t centrs sur le modle des documents gouvernementaux ou administratifs et que des dbats similaires n'ont pas encore eu lieu pour ce qui est des documents personnels.En adoptant les stratgies organisationnelles de la thorie archivistique actuelle pour les archives personnelles, les archivistes peuvent rvler les individus au point de rencontre de leurs interactions ainsi qu'en tant qu'acteurs dans divers rles l'intrieur de la socit.Cependant, dans les fonds d'archives personnelles, tant les uniques schmas documentaires des individus que les expressions de leurs caractres individuels et de leurs luttes intrieures rvlent comment les archives personnelles diffrent des documents institutionnels.En cherchant reflter le caractre et l'intriorit des individus dans leurs archives, les archivistes peuvent reprsenter de meilleure faon leur crateur non pas uniquement comme un agent social, mais comme un individu cratif forgeant sa propre vie au cours des ans.
