Abstract
Il s’agira dans cet article de comprendre les mécanismes extra-musicaux (que nous nommerons « marginaux ») à l’œuvre dans l’album Shut Up’n Play Yer Guitar de Frank Zappa. Afin de définir leur(s) rôle(s) et leur impact, non seulement dans l’œuvre mais aussi sur l’auditeur, nous effectuerons une étude philologique et génétique de l’objet en question (la pochette d’album). Après quoi il sera possible de redéfinir l’architecture de l’œuvre de Zappa, et de s’interroger sur la limite spatiale d’une création musicale.
