Abstract
L'objectif du présent article consiste à rendre compte de quelques aspects d'une recherche en cours portant sur l'évolution de la pensée démographique en matière d'immigration et d'intégration depuis surtout le début des années 1960. L'article est divisé en deux parties : la première est une courte réflexion sur le concept d'intégration en démographie. La deuxième partie présente quatre propositions qui à notre avis caractérisent le discours démo-politique actuel. Sommairement, ces quatre propositions sont : (1) l'immigration actuelle est unique dans l'histoire du Québec; (2) l'immigration n'est pas une solution au déclin démographique appréhendé; (3) l'immigration est liée à la capacité d'accueil du Québec; et (4) l'État est le maître d'oeuvre en matière de politique d'immigration. En conclusion, en nous référant au diptyque "inclusion/exclusion", nous suggérons que le discours démo-politique actuel penche beaucoup plus du côté de l'exclusion que de l'inclusion.
