Abstract
at intersections of the past and the present. Cho mobilizes the cultural symptoms, representations and physical manifestations of the small-town Chinese restaurant in order to immerse herself in larger debates about urbanization and contemporary migration, the consolidation of diasporic communities across space and time, and memory, nostalgia and history. Her insightful readings of ostensibly disparate nar-ratives enable her to carefully peel back their layers to reveal how identities and structures of power are constituted in and around what some might take to be the most unlikely of places.
