Partant de l’expression « par-dessus le marché », telle que Derrida l’utilise dans une conversation avec l’artiste coréenne Soun-Gui Kim au sujet des apories et paradoxes créés par notre marché mondial de l’art, j’examine la logique de cette expression idiomatique qui fonctionne comme un performatif ekphrastique, posant à la fois l’excès et son excès. Ceci se relie au silence qui accompagne le dévoilement de la vérité dans et par l’art. Soun-Gui Kim interprète ce silence en termes bouddhistes proches de son travail avec John Cage. J’évoque alors la dialectique du silence et de la musique chez Cage avant de rouvrir le débat entre Derrida et Paul de Man au sujet de la musique et de la voix chez Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
