Abstract
El modelo cooperativo tradicional está basado en un solo tipo de miembros: usuarios, productores o trabajadores. Pero recientemente, han surgido otras fórmulas cooperativas, en respuesta a nuevas necesidades sociales, en particular en el campo de los servicios sociales y del desarrollo local y sustentable. Estas cooperativas integran diferentes categorías de miembros: usuarios, trabajadores, voluntarios, organismos de apoyo. En este artículo se describen tres casos de cooperativas sociales: las Cooperativas Sociales italianas, las Cooperativas de Solidaridad en Québec y las Sociedades Cooperativas de Interés Colectivo francesas. Se presenta su proceso de emergencia, las nuevas leyes que regulan estas cooperativas, los principales sectores de actividad en que se han desarrollado. Se destaca su contribución al desarrollo económico y social.
