Le titre de cet essai est tiré d’une campagne provinciale de 1995 dont les objectifs étaient de sensibiliser la population envers les nouveaux citoyens d’origines diverses, tous au « coeur québécois ». Cet essai souligne le caractère bilingue (francophone/anglophone) des auteurs québécois et le recours fréquent à l’anglais dans leurs textes d’une façon beaucoup moins conflictuelle depuis les années 1980. Divers exemples servent à montrer comment les auteurs ont dépassé la notion du Québécois « pure laine ». D’autres citations incorporant des phrases et/ou expressions en anglais (et à propos de la langue anglaise) démontrent une connaissance de cette langue autrefois si ennemie. Plus assurés du statut de la langue « québécoise » depuis la Révolution tranquille, les auteurs sont également plus à l’aise avec l’emploi de l’anglais dans leurs textes. Dans les exemples étudiés ici, nous constaterons que les expressions anglaises utilisées par ces auteurs bifides - au « coeur québécois » - exigent tout de même un lecteur bilingue.
