Des théologiens prennent la parole dans les débats bioéthiques actuelles. Ce faisant, plusieurs réfléchissent aux conditions de cette prise de parole, soit en termes de contenus abordés, soit en termes de conditions de possibilité d’intervention. Cet article analyse quelques-unes de ces contributions théologiques aux débats bioéthiques à partir de l’hypothèse qu’un modèle d’articulation entre la religion et la raison publique y est à l’œuvre. Les questions qui animent cette analyse sont les suivantes : peut-on considérer que les débats bioéthiques se déroulent dans un espace que l’on peut qualifier de public ? est-il possible de dégager de ces discours religieux un modèle de discussion publique pour traiter des enjeux bioéthiques ? Quelles sont les justifications des théologiens pour légitimer la présence des discours religieux dans l’espace public séculier de la bioéthique ?
