Les techniques conventionnelles de positionnement à l’aide d’un système de navigation inertielle sont reconnues pour dériver avec le temps. Elles offrent par conséquent de piètres performances pour les applications qui requièrent une grande précision comme les sous-marins d’inspection. Ce mémoire propose de fusionner les mesures d’un système de navigation inertielle à des mesures de positionnement absolues afin d’améliorer et de stabiliser l’estimation des orientations et des positions. Cette technique permettra au sous-marin d’inspection de l’Institut de Recherche d’Hydro-Québec (IREQ) de mieux référencer les anomalies des barrages inspectés. \n \nL’objectif général du projet de recherche est d'intégrer par filtrage de Kalman indirect les mesures d'une centrale inertielle avec un système de positionnement absolu pour mesurer la position d'un sous-marin d’inspection. Afin d’atteindre cet objectif, le système de navigation inertielle est analysé et étudié. Les algorithmes sont d’abord testés en simulation avant d’être implantés dans un système réel. Par la suite, la validation des performances de la fusion de données est effectuée en imposant à la centrale inertielle réelle une trajectoire simulant les mouvements exacts du sous-marin. Un manipulateur robotique est utilisé pour réaliser cette trajectoire. Cette méthode innovatrice permet d’obtenir une bonne répétabilité. L’excellente précision de la position du robot facilite l’évaluation de la performance de l’algorithme. \n \nLes résultats expérimentaux obtenus montrent que l’utilisation du filtrage indirect de Kalman comme solution au problème de positionnement d’un sous-marin d’inspection est valable. Cependant, certaines contraintes doivent être respectées afin que les performances de cet algorithme restent satisfaisantes.
