Abstract

[EN] Abstract: The geostrategic position of the Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean became important during the first months of World War II. Aware of this, the Spanish military authorities improved defenses in anticipation of landings by any foreign power in order to take control of the islands. During that period the Minister of Defence, General Varela was informed by the Commander of the Islands, General Kindelan, about the state of the garrison and coastal defenses. Through analysis of correspondence and classified High Command documents one can make a reconstruction of that period. Keywords: World War II, Spanish Army, General Varela, General Kindelan, Balearic Islands.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
