Abstract
Stephanie Gaudet, professor at the University of Ottawa, is leading a research project on Canadians’ social participation across the lifecourse. Life-course research has been an important part of the PRI’s work, as this approach to policy shaping presents new opportunities. Her article presents the preliminary results of this research. Two main findings emerge: there is no significant trend in terms of informal practices among the Canadian population; and immigrant women, particularly those with young children, are generally excluded from all forms of social participation.
