L’histoire moderne du secteur hôtelier en Amérique du Nord est riche en rebondissement et il semble difficile à découper en séquences précises. Pourtant, au travers des changements technologiques, sociaux, ou encore grâce au génie créatif, à l’opportunisme, ce secteur s’est forgé. Des balises sont alors visibles, la segmentation, le terme hôtel « boutiques » sont autant de notions qui apparaissent au fil du temps et permettent de mieux comprendre l’évolution de ce secteur.
