Abstract
Given the way the culture of industrial society has influenced professional expertise, we can ourselves ask how the rational intervention of specialist has contributed to the social construction of the child. The purpose of this paper is outline the two medical models that defined childhood in Quebec, Canada between 1930-1970 as well to grasp their influence. The key point of his analysis is to show how scientific knowledge progressively became the reference in childhood education.
