Abstract
Avec cet ouvrage, Jérôme Croyet, qui travaille aux Archives départementales de l'Ain et connaît parfaitement la série L, nous offre une biographie issue d'un mémoire de maîtrise qu'il a soutenu à l'Université Lyon 2. Il ne s'agit toutefois pas vraiment d'une véritable biographie d'Antoine-Louis Albitte, car l'étude est avant tout centrée sur son action dans l'Ain en tant que représentant du peuple en mission.Ainsi, l'ouvrage ne contient qu'une quarantaine de pages sur les origines d'Albitte et sur son rôle de représentant du peuple à la Législative puis à la Convention nationale, et une dizaine de pages seulement concerne le Directoire, le Consulat et l'Empire.L'intérêt de l'auteur s'est donc surtout porté sur le représentant du peuple en mission et sur ses relais dans le département de l'Ain en 1793 et 1794.
