Abstract
Ce texte propose une ré-interprétation de la Révolution tranquille qui puisse permettre de comprendre l’appui relativement massif de la population québécoise aux réformes du gouvernement Lesage. En se basant sur une théorie de la société civile comme espace public d’interaction, ce texte tend à démontrer que la Révolution tranquille constitue l’aboutissement d’une réorganisation de la société civile durant le règne duplessiste. Les modifications de la société civile à cette époque se présentent sous plusieurs aspects qui anticipent les grandes transformations des années 1960 : décléricalisation des institutions, renouvellement du discours, et mise en place d’une nouvelle culture politique basée sur les notions d’autonomie et de participation.
