Abstract
A brief summary of the evolution of the electric utility industry in the United States and Canada are presented. The load and capacity projections and projections of fuel mix are described. Data, primarily from utility sources, are presented and interpreted. Possible future deregulation and transmission access by nonutilities scenarios are described.>
