Cet article se penche sur les associations d’artistes professionnels reconnues pour agir comme syndicats. Il propose que les associations d’artistes professionnels, en intervenant sur les conduites possibles des artistes, contribuent a la formation de l’artiste comme « entrepreneur de soi », un sujet qui, en contexte neoliberal, est individuellement responsable de son developpement professionnel. Cet article analyse les pratiques de categorisation des artistes par les associations et les pratiques d’investissement sur soi qu’elles stimulent, tels qu’en temoignent quelques artistes interviewes. Il argumente que la categorisation effectuee et les services offerts par les associations, en incitant les artistes a investir sur eux-memes, placent leur employabilite au centre de leur securite sur les marches du travail.
