Abstract
Ce texte présente une introduction aux transformations et défis qui se posent actuellement à la formation générale des adultes au Québec, un secteur éducatif qui vise à rendre accessible la formation de base pour tous. Il décrit les principaux facteurs sociaux, démographiques, culturels et économiques qui participent à des changements importants dans l’organisation, l’offre et la prestation de services d’éducation, de formation et d’accompagnement. Les auteurs soulignent notamment les défis posés par l’émergence de nouveaux profils d’apprenants adultes, l’instauration d’un nouveau curriculum et la mise en oeuvre de dispositifs de reconnaissance des acquis. Les auteurs rappellent plusieurs études qui font écho à ces changements, tout en soulignant que la recherche menée dans ce domaine néglige certaines problématiques. En conclusion, les auteurs constatent que l’évolution observée n’est pas strictement de l’ordre du changement ou de l’adaptation, mais plutôt de l’ordre d’une transformation systémique qui tend à modifier la mission première de la formation de base.
