Abstract
Ce texte doit son existence à un arrêt sur image : je me suis retrouvée, au mois de juin 2005, complètement hypnotisée devant la vitrine d'une des librairies du mastodonte culturel qu'est devenu le groupe Renaud-Bray.La vitrine en question offrait à mes yeux -déjà si fatigués, si usés par le magma d'images auxquelles ils doivent sans cesse se soumettre -un simple livre.Il y avait moi derrière l'écran, c'est-à-dire derrière la vitrine délimitant la frontière entre ce livre et moi, et le livre, serein, posé, sûr de lui, qui me fixait étrangement.Et la présence de ce livre derrière cette vitrine me troublait profondément.Le livre en question était la réédition du roman de Germaine Guèvremont Le Survenant, paru au printemps 2005 dans la collection Bibliothèque Québécoise roman qui, dès sa parution en 1945, connut un bienheureux destin: excellente réception critique, passage de l'œuvre de la culture dite savante à la culture populaire par sa transformation, d'abord en série radiophonique de 1952 à 1955, puis en série télévisée de 1954 à 1960, téléroman qui consacra le mythe de la figure du Survenant dans l'imaginaire québécois, incarnée à l'époque par le comédien Jean Coutu.La
