Le modèle d’intervention qui a été développé par le Service correctionnel du Canada a inspiré beaucoup d’administrations pénitentiaires dans le monde. Ce modèle a été discuté dans le cadre de groupes de discussion menés en Belgique, en France et en Suisse. Il ressort de ces échanges un certain nombre de pistes fécondes pour analyser sous un angle nouveau les pratiques, orientations et finalités de l’intervention en milieu carcéral. Les principaux résultats analytiques de cette démarche de confrontation constructive autour de l’intervention correctionnelle sont présentés, l’intervention étant définie par nos participants comme une forme particulière de rencontre interpersonnelle se déroulant dans un cadre institutionnel normatif. Les enjeux entourant (1) le contexte, (2) les acteurs et (3) la forme des rencontres sont mis en perspective pour aboutir à des propositions potentiellement génératrices d’un renouvellement réflexif, à la fois théorique et pratique, sur la prise en charge des justiciables dans le système pénal.
