Abstract
Cet article présente les développements récents de lanew business historysur l’un de ses thèmes privilégiés qui est l’évolution des frontières de la firme et de l’industrie. Les connexions avec l’économie industrielle, et surtout avec les analyses néo-institutionnelles, se sont développées sur ce thème selon deux tendances principales. Il ressort de cette analyse que la première tendance utilise les modèles économiques traitant des problèmes de coordination informationnelle comme des grilles de lecture des faits historiques. La seconde tendance laisse en revanche aux travaux d’histoire une opportunité plus grande d’affiner les grilles de lecture de l’économie industrielle en insistant sur un problème concret des firmes et des industries innovatrices : la coordination des activités productives.
