A área de estudo é uma indústria petroquímica localizada no município de Cubatão – SP e às margens do Rio Cubatão. O aqüífero livre da área encontra-se impactado por benzeno em altas concentrações. A empresa utiliza 3 (três) poços profundos para abastecimento industrial todos com 30 metros de profundidade em média, cujas seções camada de argila marinha, o que impede o contato com a zona contaminada da área. Este estudo apresenta os resultados da avaliação hidrogeológica realizada para verificar o potencial de migração do benzeno, para o aqüífero confinado, em função da operação dos poços de abastecimento.
