Les disciplines des sciences humaines et sociales se différencient assez largement du fait de leurs objets et de leurs méthodes. Pourtant, plusieurs d’entre elles ont régulièrement mobilisé des modèles interprétatifs similaires : du modèle philologique au modèle neuronal, en passant par les modèles structural et stratégique. Or, il s’avère que de tels modèles ne sont pas que des opérateurs analytiques. Ils ont encore à voir avec les dimensions proprement constitutives des objets étudiés. Dans le même contexte, et sur les mêmes bases, il devient possible de revisiter des problématiques que l’on s’était habitué à qualifier par référence à un champ académique particulier. Ainsi du concept d’action, plutôt rattaché à l’anthropologie, ou de celui de signification, qui relève classiquement de la linguistique. Or, à propos de ces deux notions phare, les objets de la linguistique, de l’anthropologie et de l’ethnomusicologie permettent de dresser des topographies nettement plus denses et subtiles que ce que l’on en disait, révélant par surcroît des principes dynamiques insoupçonnés.
