Abstract
La théorie délibérative de la démocratie propose de résoudre les problèmes politiques que pose le désaccord moral en soumettant les procédures de décision politique à des exigences d’argumentation et de participation : elles devraient être des lieux d’échanges de raisons et associer de manière active les citoyens. Toutefois la conjonction de ces deux exigences ne peut se justifier que si la théorie délibérative adopte une conception du désaccord moral différente de celle à laquelle elle se réfère communément. Selon ce point de vue concurrent, la source du désaccord ne réside pas d’abord dans des divergences de doctrines morales entre groupes mais plutôt dans des divergences relatives aux significations sociales accordées à des pratiques dans des conflits sociaux.
