L’utilisation de la variable sur la langue d’usage à la maison du Registre des décès du Québec

Abstract
La mortalité est une des mesures de la santé globale de la population les plus utilisées et on peut y intégrer une composante linguistique et culturelle en utilisant la langue d’usage à la maison qui est inscrite au Registre des décès du Québec. Nous avons exploré les fichiers des décès du Québec de 1990 à 2007 afin de mesurer les proportions d’absence de réponse selon différentes variables comme la région sociosanitaire, l’établissement ou le type de déclarant. Nous concluons à la suite de cette étude exploratoire que l’information est suffisamment exacte pour donner un portrait réaliste de la mortalité par groupes linguistiques. Nous recommandons de faire une imputation pour les valeurs manquantes et nous proposons certaines améliorations à l’enregistrement de la variable linguistique au Registre des décès du Québec.
