Texturas, argilominerales y metales en sedimentos de fondo de arroyos de la franja costera sur del Río de la Plata

Abstract
Se estudiaron sedimentos de fondo extraidos en posiciones distales de los arroyos El Pescado, Canada Arregui, Burinigo, JuanBlanco, El Destino, Samborombon y Salado, estos dos ultimos ubicados en la region mas abierta del estuario del rio de laPlata. Para la caracterizacion granulometrica (tamizado y pipeteo), mineralogia de arcillas (difraccion rayos X), contenido demateria organica (digestion acida en caliente, valoracion titulometrica) y concentracion de metales (espectrometria AA), se emplearonmetodos estandarizados de laboratorio. La mayoria de los sedimentos fueron clasificados como limos arcillosos y arcillaslimosas, sin embargo en el rio Salado y los arroyos El Pescado y El Destino los sedimentos de fondo son mas arenosos.La composicion mineralogica de las arcillas indica que los sedimentos de los arroyos cuentan con una importante proporcionde esmectita y caolinita, aunque manteniendose una predominancia illitica. Significativamente, mayor proporcion de caolinitaesta presente en los rios Samborombon y Salado, evidenciando una importante influencia estuarica. El hierro y el manganesoson los metales mayoritarios con mayor variabilidad entre cursos. Los humedales costeros y zonas deprimidas de la costadel estuario favorecen la retencion de estos dos elementos. Las altas variaciones de los contenidos reflejan diferencias fisicoquimicasen los ambientes depositacionales. El orden de abundancia del resto de los metales analizados es Zn>Pb=Cu>Cr>Ni>Cd, con concentraciones mas elevadas en los de la vertiente sur del estuario, manteniendo un comportamiento similar alde los mayoritarios.
