Abstract
Lorsque je suis entr au dpartement des Estampes, j'avais encore trs peu grav et je ne connaissais pas grand-chose. Non que j'en sache normment aujourd'hui, mais j'en ai vu davantage. Je regardais alors tout ce que je pouvais. Je me rappelle que les gravures d'Enrique Marin m'avaient frapp l'oeil par leur noirceur ainsi que par leurs sujets goyesques et mme diaboliques, parfaitement conformes mes gots 1 . Je me souviens du regard de commisration dsappointe que, lui ayant avou cette faiblesse, m'avait jet la conservatrice qui rgnait alors sur l'estampe contemporaine la Bibliothque ; elle prouvait l'gard de l'estampe un sentiment fort diffrent du mien, de celui d'Enrique et de la plupart des membres de la Socit des peintres-graveurs franais laquelle il appartenait.
