Abstract Efficient and recyclable solid catalysts for the hydrosilylation of olefins are highly desirable, both to reduce the economic and environmental costs of traditional homogeneous processes and to improve the health properties of products that find a number of uses in daily life. In this account we critically review selected examples amongst the numerous platinum‐based materials developed in the last decade, with the goal of identifying important challenges in this relevant domain of synthetic organic chemistry.
