Abstract
Cette étude propose d’examiner l’extrême violence des mots et la souffrance physique révélées dans la métamorphose corporelle de Plectrude. Nous montrerons également que la relation étroite entre l’écriture et le corps permet à Nothomb d’explorer le domaine social en dénonçant les tabous et les préjugés. Face à une société qui a tendance à stéréotyper l’image corporelle féminine en imposant une certaine beauté, Nothomb choisit de désacraliser le corps en nous dépeignant des êtres hideux, difformes, physiquement et psychologiquement meurtris. D’autre part, elle s’inscrit dans un courant où écrire le corps s’impose non seulement comme un moyen de «toucher les autres» mais aussi comme une stratégie narrative pour dévoiler ses propres failles, ses propres craintes.
