Abstract
Cet article, qui repose sur une enquête réalisée dans une grande ville du Canada durant la première moitié des années 1950, décrit l’organisation de la « communauté homosexuelle » en insistant en particulier sur la division alors cruciale entre les homosexuels qui ne se soucient pas de faire montre de leur orientation sexuelle et ceux qui cherchent scrupuleusement à la camoufler, évitant de ce fait les premiers. Il montre en particulier que les homosexuels dévoilés sont aussi ceux qui appartiennent aux catégories professionnelles les plus modestes.
