Rite du culte domestique, l’album de photos de famille pérennise les évènements et les personnages de la vie familiale qui « méritent » d’être conservés et transmis. La production exponentielle de photographies de famille avec l’introduction du numérique et le traitement des archives photographiques familiales sur ordinateur sont-ils en voie de modifier l’élaboration de cette mémoire familiale? Avec le numérique semble se profiler le rêve d’une vie photographiée en continu et d’une mémoire intégrale, incompatible avec le processus même de la mémorisation qui implique de retenir et trier pour éliminer. Cet excès de mémoire familiale, ce rêve de « tout photographier », ces fantasmes de « tout garder », cette passion de « tout stocker » ne risqueraient-ils pas alors de conduire à une mémoire saturée?
