Abstract
Cette étude analyse les changements de revenu réel moyen des familles avec enfants avant et après impôts personnels, au Canada et au Québec, sur la période 1971-1987. L'étude montre comment s'est répartie la croissance du revenu réel entre les familles. Elle insiste particulièrement sur les variations du nombre de familles situées sous les seuils de faible revenu et sur l'efficacité des régimes de transferts et de l'impôt personnel dans la lutte contre la pauvreté. Les facteurs qui sont à l'origine de la croissance du revenu familial total sont identifies, notamment la contribution des gains de travail des femmes et ses effets sur la répartition du revenu et sur l'incidence de la pauvreté. Finalement, l'étude mesure les changements du temps parental disponible par famille et par enfant.
