Abstract
Este trabalho foi realizado no âmbito do IV Curso de Pos-Graduacao em Administracao Social, promovido pelo ISSS Lx, em 2003, na disciplina de Estado, Economia e Politica Social. Apresentamos a recensao bibliografica da primeira parte de um estudo apresentado no livro Global Civzl Society Dimensios if Nonprifit Sectot; de 1999, que resume os resultados de um ambicioso projecto concebido no sentido de clarificar a forca social que representam hoje no mundo inteiro, os milhares de centros comunitarios, clinicas de saude, escolas, centros de dia, organizacoes de defesa do ambiente, clubes sociais, associacoes profissionais, associacoes culturais e tantas outras diferentes entidades que formam o que se vem chamando de sociedade civil, terceiro sector ou sector nao lucrativa. Devido a extensao do estudo, que abrange vinte e dois paises de todo o mundo, apenas abordaremos a primeira parte, em que os autores analisam as finalidades, o tamanho, a estrutura e a fonte de financiamento do sector nao lucrativa de um modo geral, agrupando os paises por regioes do globo (Europa Ocidental, Europa Central e de Leste, Outros paises desenvolvidos e America Latina).
