Abstract
En la Escuela de Altos Estudios por los años 1912-1913 se conocieron Alfonso Reyes (1889-1959) y Xavier Icaza (1892-1969) cuando éste empezó a asistir a las clases de literatura española que impartía el autor de Cuestiones estéticas. A partir de esos momentos, gracias a su apasionado maestro, nacieron en el joven Icaza su amor por los libros, su gusto por la literatura medieval española y su devoción a lo mexicano.
