Introduccion : Se  define etica desde sus raices linguisticas y la evolucion de este concepto en diferentes contextos. Objetivo: Reflexionar acerca de algunos de los  problemas eticos asociados al  uso de las tecnologias de la informacion y las comunicaciones en el ambito de las bibliotecas  y de la actividad informativo documental. Materiales y Metodos: Analisis documental clasico. Se consultaron fuentes documentales impresas y se hizo una busqueda sobre los temas en Internet. La   bibliografia citada se organizo segun el estilo Vancouver. Resultados: Se  habla sobre los conceptos de etica, etica profesional  y etica de la informacion. Se caracteriza brevemente al bibliotecario tradicional y la etica que caracterizaba la profesion. Se reflexiona sobre algunos de los problemas eticos de la informacion, emanados del uso de las nuevas tecnologias de la informacion y la comunicacion. Conclusiones: Se reflexiona acerca de la actitud que debe asumir los profesionales de las ciencias de la informacion ante estos dilemas eticos
