Abstract
Confronter la problématique de l'exclusion sociale à la situation des Autochtones au Canada permet de mettre au jour une dialectique d'inclusion et d'exclusion puisque la marginalisation des Autochtones procède d'une incorporation à l'État-nation dans un espace périphérique : la réserve. Deux types de marginalité émergent de la mise en rapport des Euro-canadiens avec les Autochtones : une marginalité produite historiquement dans un contexte de domination et de colonisation, et une marginalité produite dans le contexte de stratégies politiques dont les conséquences et les enjeux diffèrent. L'analyse de ces enjeux permet de dépolariser les clivages «ethniques» et montre que la marginalisation est le fruit d'un rapport de force entre majoritaires et minoritaires auquel prennent part les acteurs situés aux deux pôles de la relation.
