Dans les entreprises françaises, la fonction sociale est intimement liée à l'histoire de la fonction de gestion du personnel. Elle est incarnée par les surintendantes d’usine dont les héritières sont les conseillères du travail et assistantes de service social du travail. Ces professionnelles dotées d’une double culture, celle du travail social et celles de la gestion des ressources humaines donnent au service social du travail toute sa fonction stratégique et notamment au regard des nombreuses évolutions intervenues dans le monde du travail Le care à la fois dans sa dimension théorique et sa dimension pratique ouvre des perspectives pour faire avancer la question de la santé au travail.Cet article cherchera à montrer l’articulation autour de l’éthique du care entre une pratique d’intervention sociale et une façon de penser la prise en compte du réel des hommes et des femmes au travail dans la gestion des ressources humaines.
