Abstract
De Jean Talon à aujourd’hui, la ville de Québec a été recensée à de nombreuses occasions. Ce regard constant, à travers la lentille des différents recensements, permet de tracer une multitude de changements qui ont façonné l’histoire de sa population. Tant les changements au niveau géographique que l’évolution de certaines variables démographiques témoignent au fil des siècles des principales étapes de sa croissance jusqu’au passage de son 400eanniversaire. Tous ces dénombrements successifs de la ville de Québec, sont autant de jalons qui rendent hommage à Samuel de Champlain, le fondateur de la ville de Québec, ainsi qu’à tous ces hommes et ces femmes qui ont contribué à ce qu’est devenue aujourd’hui la ville de Québec.
