El objetivo de este artículo es llamar la atención sobre una cuestión que debe ser articulada aún en la literatura relativa a la noción brentaniana de inexistencia intencional o intencionalidad. Tal y como explicaré, el corazón de este problema puede ser entendido como una petitio principii que se manifiesta en el modelo brentaniano de conocimiento. Este engañoso constructo conceptual implica una interdependencia radical de los elementos del modelo. Por ello, argumentaré que, de ser pasada por alto, esta dificultad esencialmente ontológica nos conduce al tipo de problemas epistemológicos referidos bajo el título convencional de "problema de la intencionalidad".
