Dans l'oeuvre de Frantz Fanon s'opre progressivement un passage, sinon une substitution, de la thmatisation de la pathologie du colonis en termes d'alination sa thmatisation en termes de dpersonnalisation. Il n'est pas question ici d'analyser les modalits de ce passage ni mme de dresser le tableau pathologique d'une telle dpersonnalisation ; nous dsirons uniquement rendre compte de l'un de ses aspects, savoir l'exprience ou la sensation subjective d'une mort dans la vie afin d'lucider sa liaison avec une situation objective, la situation coloniale et sa contestation en tant qu'elles relvent peut-tre d'une biopolitique en un sens qui reste dfinir. Il ne sera nanmoins pas inutile de dbuter avec quelques considrations d'ordre gnral sur la notion de dpersonnalisation en psychopathologie.
