Abstract
Jusqu'à présent, il n'existait aucune synthèse comparable à l'ouvrage désormais classique de Roland Mortier, Diderot en Allemagne 1750-1850 (Paris, PUF, 1954), sur la réception de Rousseau en Allemagne (signalons quand même l'existence du livre de Jacques H. Mounier, La fortune des écrits de Jean-Jacques Rousseau dans les pays de langue allemande de 1782 à 1813, Paris: PUF, 1980).Pour combler cette lacune qui, en raison de l'importance considérable de Rousseau pour la vie intellectuelle allemande des XVIIIe et XIXe ss.semblait particulièrement grave, le Department of German de l'Université de Toronto a organisé sous la direction de H. J. un colloque interdisciplinaire sur ce thème dont nous présentons ici les actes.
