Abstract
Interventions : Les patients repartis aleatoirement recevaient soit une injection d’EPO 40 000 unites souscutanee, soit le placebo une fois par semaine pendant trois semaines (au jour 1 de l’etude, et aux jours 8 et 15 s’ils etaient encore a l’hopital). Tous les patients recevaient 150 mg de fer elementaire par jour par voie orale ou par le tube nasogastrique. Dans l’eventualite d’un echec avec la prise de fer per os (saturation transferrine < 20 % et concentration ferritine < 100 ng/ml), du fer intraveineux etait utilise. Les transfusions n’etaient pas recommandees si l’Hb etait superieure a 90 g/L.
