Abstract
O outro e essencial na experiencia da vergonha. Submetido ao olhar do outro, o sujeito vive a experiencia de um desmoronamento interior que manifesta que seu proprio ser esta comprometido. Por isso, o segredo pode ter um efeito protetor notavel, mas enigmatico. Aquilo que e posto em xeque no suposto julgamento do outro nao poe em jogo de modo algum a responsabilidade do sujeito por seu ato, mas por seu ser. No plano metapsicologico, um tal acontecimento remete a complexa entrada em jogo do ideal do eu ou do eu ideal, que poderiamos relacionar, respectivamente, com a vergonha secundaria e com a vergonha primaria descritas por Claude Janin. Essa questao e explorada, entre outras formas, a partir de uma leitura do Livro de Jo, reinterpretado como testemunho magistral da vergonha do homem perante Deus. O destino da vergonha, fundamental tanto para o sujeito quanto para as civilizacoes pelo tema da pureza, mantem sua autonomia em relacao ao destino da culpa.
