Abstract
Depuis une vingtaine d'années, l'étalement urbain mène à une redéfinition des rapports entre la ville centre et la banlieue, au fur et à mesure que s'affirme l'urbanité de la banlieue. Selon des données sur les migrations et les déplacements quotidiens à l'intérieur de l'agglomération montréalaise, l'intensité des relations des banlieusards avec la ville de Montréal va en s'amenuisant : l'urbanité de la banlieue s'affirme donc aussi à Montréal. Toutefois, le centre-ville conserve une grande partie de sa force d'attraction : il continue d'être fréquenté quotidiennement par des banlieusards qui vivent cependant dans un autre cadre de vie. Les composantes de l'agglomération de Montréal sont donc complémentaires, et pour assurer un développement harmonieux de l'ensemble, il faudrait concevoir un nouveau cadre de concertation à l'échelle de la région.
