Abstract
Cet article examine la question de la santé des soignants travaillant en établissement d’hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes. Plus précisément, il interroge une relation de soins qui, selon le modèle du burnout, est impliquée dans la souffrance des soignants. À partir d’une analyse de l’activité des soignants, associant clinique du travail et ergonomie, nous reconsidérons la relation. Nous étudions les effets des contraintes temporelles sur les relations aux résidents. Ensuite, nous montrons que préserver l’humanité du résident est l’enjeu principal de la relation. Enfin, nous analysons les processus de recréation de l’activité qui opèrent dans la relation. Pour terminer, nous discutons de l’organisation du travail, des transformations de l’activité opérées par les soignants, et de l’intervention dans le domaine de la santé au travail.
