Este trabalho apresenta a vida de músicos das ilhas Seychelles, arquipélago do oceano Índico, envolvendo seu cotidiano e suas estratégias para desenvolver uma carreira profissional e artística no país, desde os anos 80. As estratégias usadas pelos músicos para atenuar as limitações ligadas à insularidade, aos problemas de gestão interna e à falta de infraestruturas, variam de acordo com suas experiências musicais, pré-disposição para administrar e gerenciar a carreira e os projetos e, finalmente, com o posicionamento dentro da esfera política e social do país. Também foi observada uma mudança dos referentes indentitários exprimidos através das escolhas musicais e intenções dos músicos. A internet e a ação da diáspora mudam bastante os comportamentos e experiências musicais, que têm uma tendência a se globalizar.
