Abstract
El artículo presenta el desarrollo de un prototipo de equipo electrónico para estimulación eléctrica transcutánea en el tratamiento de rehabilitación neuromuscular de pacientes con parálisis facial. La energía electroterapéutica es generada por fuentes de corriente que consisten en formas de onda de pulsos rectangulares bifásicos, a los que se puede ajustar el ancho, la frecuencia y la intensidad. Para garantizar la seguridad eléctrica del paciente el equipo es alimentado por baterías. Las formas de onda y los parámetros terapéuticos están controlados por un microcontrolador. Lo que diferencia a este equipo de los disponibles en el mercado para esta aplicación específica, es su diseño con cuatro canales independientes para terapia pasiva, que puede estimular más de un paquete neuromuscular a la vez, y un canal adicional para terapia activa, donde el terapeuta aplica dinámicamente la energía eléctrica mediante el movimiento del electrodo activo en la superficie de la cara.
