Abstract
Réputé pour son exploration des avant-gardes historiques, ses adaptations de récits ou son goût pour les créations, Denis Marleau a constitué au fil de l’histoire de sa compagnie de création Ubu un répertoire iconoclaste dans les marges du grand répertoire institutionnel. Durant l’automne 2007, il délaisse provisoirement les chemins inexplorés de la transposition générique ou des oeuvres rares pour aborder Othello de Shakespeare au Centre national des Arts d’Ottawa puis à l’Usine C de Montréal. Confrontation d’une pièce canonique avec un répertoire individuel à l’identité fortement marquée, cette rencontre a débouché sur un processus de mise à nu radical.
