Abstract
Par le biais d’une étude axée sur l’herméneutique littéraire conçue par les adeptes de l’École de Constance, cet article se propose d’aborder le thème de la réception d’Émile Nelligan au Canada français. Il se nourrit des pistes théoriques développées par Hans Robert Jauss dans Pour une esthétique de la réception. Tout en couvrant une période historique qui s’étend entre 1899-1980, cette étude tient à illustrer la complexité et le paradoxe qui caractérisent l’activité de communication (œuvre/lecteur), à analyser les jugements de valeur de quelques exemples des parties prenantes de la critique de la « négativité », et à examiner le phénomène de la réception d’une poésie « en train de se faire ».
